What is MECYPAA?
MECYPAA stands for Maine Conference of Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous. In 1989, the New England Conference of Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous was founded to celebrate the sobriety of young people in AA. Many states started creating their own versions and now here in Maine, we want to start our own.
Who we are?
We are a group of individuals who attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and are collaborating to organize Maine’s first conference. We are working diligently to make this happen for you.
What are we doing?
We meet monthly to plan fun events for the AA community to raise funds for a MECYPAA conference. The money we continue to raise will be used to organize more fundraising events and eventually host our conference here in Portland, Maine. Some of the events we have already hosted included dance, a cornhole tournament with a BBQ, camping overnight, and attending YPAA conferences in other states to promote MECYPAA and spread the word.
